Explor Res Clin Soc Pharm.誌では、2023～24年にかけて、“Selfcare for Health System Sustainability: An International Series on the Role of Community Pharmacy”（医療システムの持続可能性のためのセルフケア～地域薬局の役割に関する国際シリーズ）と題するテーマの論文を掲載しています。
このシリーズでは次の3つの目的を掲げています。
- 各国におけるセルフケアに関する政策、戦略、動向を説明し、非処方薬製品のより効果的な利用を確保し、医薬品、非医薬品製品および実践に関する患者安全を確保するための主要な変更点を明らかにする
- 国別のセルフケア活動とサービスを提供し、プログラムの例を示す
- 地域薬局・地域薬剤師がセルフケアサービスの提供に関連して直面する課題と機会について議論

- セルフケアの概念は、政府によって十分に認識されていない
- 地域薬局は、総じてセルフケア政策に含まれていない
- 薬局業界は、セルフケアの概念を最も広義の意味で理解していない
- 薬局業界では、セルフケアが処方箋不要の医薬品と関連しているという普遍的な認識がある
- 患者のセルフケアにおける薬局の役割は、正式な政策や国家基準にほとんど盛り込まれていない
こういった、プライマリ（ヘルス）ケアにおける地域薬局・薬剤師の役割については、最近では Pharm Pract.誌でも特集が組まれていていて、本ブログでも以前紹介しました。（→TOPICS 2020.06.01 未定稿）
今回の報告は、限られた医療資源をどう活用するか、また国民の健康を守り、地域医療のインフラとしての地域薬局・薬剤師の役割について学ぶところが多そうです。
